Pune: After Leopard Sighting On Campus, R&DE Office Closed

Vishrantwadi, 24th August 2022: In the wee hours of Wednesday(August 23), a leopard was seen on the campus of Research and Development Establishment (Engineers) (R&DE) of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Pune-Alandi Road.

To search for the leopard, the team of the Pune Forest Department and ResQ Trust is closely monitoring the movement of the leopard and a camera trap has been set up.

Since the area is covered with trees and bushes, it is difficult to track the leopard. Also, public awareness is being created on behalf of the forest department in terms of security measures in this area and all efforts are being made by the forest department to rescue leopards.

“Citizens of the said area should not panic and should immediately contact the forest department officials if they see a leopard or inform the nearest forest division office or citizens are requested to contact the official toll-free number 1926 of the Government of Maharashtra,” informed Rahul Patil, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Pune.
