Pune: Airport Advisory Committee Meets To Discuss Various Issues

Pune, October 6, 2020: To make Pune Airport user friendly from the point of view of passenger amenities and to provide enhanced passenger facilitation, the Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting was held today.

 

The meeting was called under the Chairmanship of Girish Bapat, MP & Chairman, AAC along with special invitee Vandana Chavan, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), MLA Sunil Tingre and Pune airport director Kuldeep Singh. The other dignitaries from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune city police, district administration, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), Indian Air Force, CISF, Trade, Travel, Airlines, Hotels, MCCIA, Nominated Members of MOCA, and Sameer Muttha, were also present.

The newly elected members Sudhir Mehta, president, MCCIA from Trade, Abhijit Pawar, MD, Sakal Papers from Industry, Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (retd), Badshaha Sayyad, from Tours and Taxi Association and Ujwal Govind Keskar, were welcomed by AAC chairman Bapat.

Airport Director Kuldeep Singh displayed a small PPT on the developmental activities at Pune Airport and then the house was open for discussion on various issues related to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)/ State Government with respect to land requirements, road development, relocation of police chowky, bus facility, construction of the new terminal building, construction of multi-level car parking were discussed at length. “We also discussed issues with respect to Indian Air Force like working permission for alternate road connectivity to Viman Nagar, handing over of BSO Yard/CWE Office land, especially for 8.5/2.5 acres of land for cargo facility due which AAI is facing huge loss which in turn will also affect the growth of the Pune city”, Singh informed.

 

MP Vandana Chavan insisted for the developments on the points like road development activities, an initiative from state police authorities role for the traffic congestion at the airport road and MLCP design modification.

 

MLA Tingre informed about the alternate road connectivity for the public as the road from 509 to Lohegaon will be closed by IAF. “IAF is taking up the work of runway resurfacing. The problem of the burmashell slum is still pending since long period which is to be taken up by PMC at the earliest”, he pointed out.

Bapat informed that the views of the newly appointed members from the fields of trade, travel, industry, social and political are of utmost importance for the development of the existing airport as well as for the construction of the new terminal building at Pune Airport and multi-level car parking and other developmental issues of the airport.

 

He further informed that separate meetings on the important issues like land acquisition, road widening etc. will be organised with the concerned authorities of PMC, police and the state government and Ministry of Defence so as to bring solutions to the problem at the earliest for fast development of Pune Airport and to give public the best facilities and make Pune one of the best city with all the developed infrastructure.
