Pune, 7th April 2022: After getting complaints from flyers that water bottles are being sold at exorbitant rates, the Pune airport has fined contractors.

During security checks, flyers are not allowed to take carry water bottles. And the shops inside the terminal building are selling water bottles at high costs.

Parag Karandikar tweeted, “This is big time cheating
@aaipunairport ..water bottle of 500ml cost you Rs 70. No other options are available as security don’t allow you to carry your own water and vendor at airport don’t keep ordinary brands.

If @RailMinIndia can make available drinking water at affordable price why can’t @aaipunairport @AAI_Official can do this. As it’s airport one can understand doubling the price but 14 Times is too much.”

Harjeet Singh Khalsa tweeted, “Sir, why can’t we have vending machines for water bottle like we have in Delhi and Mumbai Airport.. ?? We get 500 ml bottle of good brands like Aquafina there in just 10 Rs.”

Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said that the contractor has been fined as per tender conditions for selling water bottles at high costs.
