Pune Airport Gets Transit Mail Office to Speed Up Domestic and International Mail Handling
Viman Nagar, 13th March 2026: A Transit Mail Office (TMO) was formally inaugurated at Pune Airport on Friday, a move aimed at strengthening postal logistics and improving the speed and efficiency of mail handling at the airport.
Officials said the new facility will streamline the processing and transit of both domestic and international mail consignments, enabling faster movement of shipments and improved coordination between postal services and airport authorities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Abhijeet Bansode, Director Postal Services (DPS), said the launch of the Transit Mail Office marks a significant step toward enhancing the efficiency and reliability of mail processing and logistics management in the region. He said the facility will help ensure quicker handling of consignments and improve overall service delivery for customers.
Bansode added that the new office is expected to support the increasing demand for efficient postal and logistics services, particularly from businesses and e-commerce operators that rely on faster delivery networks.
The Transit Mail Office is also expected to reduce processing time and strengthen operational coordination between postal authorities and the airport, thereby improving logistics infrastructure in the region.
Santosh Dhoke, Airport Director of Pune Airport, was present during the inauguration of the Transit Mail facilities. Officials said the initiative reflects a collaborative effort between airport authorities and the postal department to enhance operational efficiency and improve connectivity through Pune Airport.
The facility is expected to play an important role in improving mail connectivity and logistics support for businesses, e-commerce companies and individual customers across Pune and surrounding regions.
