Pune: Ajit Pawar Announces Rs 5 Lakh Aid for Bhushi Dam Victims’ Families; Implements Safety Measures
Mumbai, 4th July 2024: On 30th June, five people from the same family in Hadapsar tragically lost their lives after being swept away by the overflowing waters of Bhushi Dam near Lonavala in Pune District. In response to this incident, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Guardian Minister of Pune District, Ajit Pawar, has issued orders to all District Collectors and Senior Police Officers in Maharashtra to take preventive measures. Additionally, Ajit Pawar announced that Rs 5 lakh in aid would be given to the families of the victims.
Hadapsar MLA Chetan Tupe called for assistance for the families of the Bhushi Dam victims and the implementation of safety precautions at hazardous tourist spots. In response, Ajit Pawar stated, “The accident at Bhushi Dam was unfortunate, and funds will be made available through the Pune District Planning Committee to take measures to prevent such accidents.”
These funds will be used to install preventive information boards, fencing, safety nets, and other safety measures at potentially dangerous locations. Actions are already being taken to put up information boards and implement security measures at popular tourist spots. Similarly, instructions will be given to District Collectors and District Planning Officers in Maharashtra to ensure safety measures are taken even at remote and dangerous locations, Ajit Pawar stated during the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly’s Monsoon Session.
