Pune: Ajit Pawar Blesses Mahavikas Aghadi Candidate Waghere in Pimpri Chinchwad
Pimpri Chinchwad, 27th April 2024: Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Sanjog Waghere humbly sought the blessings of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar during an event in the Maval Lok Sabha Constituency. Ajit Pawar, associated with Mahayuti, has Shrirang Barne as his candidate. Notably, Barne had secured victory over Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar, by a significant margin of more than 2 Lakh votes in the 2019 elections. This defeat was a blow not only to Parth Pawar but also to Ajit Pawar himself.
The gesture of seeking blessings from Ajit Pawar by Sanjog Waghere has sparked discussions in the city. Some speculate whether Waghere’s action signifies hidden support from Ajit Pawar, particularly given the backdrop of the significant electoral defeat faced by Ajit Pawar and his son in the previous election.
During the marriage ceremony of Pimpri Assembly MLA Anna Bansode’s daughter, a visitation program was organised on Friday evening, attended by several leaders including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Notably, Mahavikas Aghadi candidates Sanjog Waghere and Ajit Pawar shared the same platform on this occasion. Waghere respectfully sought blessings from Ajit Pawar, sparking discussions in the Maval Lok Sabha constituency.
Sanjog Waghere, previously a staunch supporter of Ajit Pawar, found himself aligned with the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) before the Lok Sabha elections. He received the Maval Lok Sabha nomination from the Shiv Sena UBT group, while Shrirang Barne was nominated from the Mahayuti coalition. This development has stirred a different discourse within the Maval Lok Sabha constituency.
Recently, Ajit Pawar attended a meeting of the Mahayuti, where activists and office bearers were urged to secure a resounding victory for Barne. During the meeting, Barne indirectly referenced the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the defeat of Parth Pawar. However, the NCP activists and office bearers still keenly feel the impact of Parth Pawar’s loss, unable to shake off the memory of that defeat.
Interestingly, despite Ajit Pawar’s active campaigning to support Barne, his blessings bestowed upon Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Sanjog Waghere have sparked speculation. Some are now questioning whether Ajit Pawar is secretly backing Waghere in the Maval Lok Sabha and Pimpri-Chinchwad city. This has sparked vibrant discussions among the locals.
