Pune: Amba Ghat Closed to Heavy Vehicles Amid Landslide Threat After Heavy Rain
Pune, 1st August 2026: The movement of heavy vehicles through Amba Ghat on the NH-166 Kolhapur–Ratnagiri highway has been suspended until further orders following cracks on the roadway and the threat of landslides triggered by continuous heavy rainfall.
The traffic restriction has been imposed at the request of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in coordination with the district administration.
Authorities have directed operators of heavy vehicles not to use the Amba Ghat route and instead plan their journeys via alternate roads until the restrictions are lifted.
Motorists travelling through the ghat section have also been advised to exercise caution and strictly follow directions issued by the police and NHAI officials, considering the prevailing weather conditions and the possibility of landslides.
