Pune: Annual Sports Day at Army Public School Kirkee Celebrates Athletic Excellence and Sportsmanship

Pune, 7th November 2023: The Annual Sports Day at Army Public School Kirkee was celebrated with zeal and excitement on 07 November 2023, showcasing the impressive athletic prowess and sportsmanship of the students. The meticulously planned event commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, marked by the traditional lighting of the torch.
The festivities kicked off with an impressive march past, exhibiting discipline and coordination among students from various classes. An oath ceremony ensued, where students pledged their commitment to fair, honest, and dedicated participation in the games.
Principal Rupan Jaswal presented the annual report, emphasizing the students’ achievements and progress in sports throughout the year. The day unfolded with a series of exhilarating races, starting from the Pre-Primary race to primary races for classes 2, 3, and 4. The deserving winners were duly honored.
Beyond the races, the event featured diverse activities showcasing the students’ talents. Performances included pom-poms by the Pre-Primary section, Hoola Hoops and Zumba by Class I, yoga by Class V, and Laezium by Class VI. Each act captivated and impressed the audience.
The Primary section event reached its pinnacle with challenging races, including the 100m girls’ race, the 200m boys’ race for students aged 9-10, and the crowd-favorite 4x100m relay boys’ race, highlighting exceptional teamwork.
Cultural and traditional activities enriched the celebration, featuring captivating presentations such as a welcome dance, Rani Karnawati’s bow and arrow skills, Mahadevi’s Odisha oral prowess, Jhansi Ki Rani’s sword fighting and horse-riding skills, and Tarai Bai Bhosale’s mesmerizing Mallakhamb display.
Senior students engaged in competitive relay races, showcasing their athletic abilities and determination. Brig D G Patwardhan, Commandant, BEG and Centre Khadki, the Chief Guest, commended the students’ efforts, urging them to excel in sports while upholding discipline.
Archana Patwardhan, the Chief Guest, distributed prizes to winners, acknowledging their achievements. The event concluded with a closing march past, symbolizing the triumph of a successful sports day.
Principal Rupan Jaswal expressed gratitude to participants, teachers, staff, and parents for their support. The program concluded with the National Anthem, marking the event’s end on a high note.
Adding prestige to the occasion, five distinguished athletes from the Bombay Engineer Group (BEG), medalists at the Asian Para Games, were invited to distribute prizes. Their presence inspired students to strive for excellence in sports, making the awards ceremony a memorable conclusion to the Annual Sports Day.
