Pune: Another FIR Registered Against Rapido For Operating Illegal Bike Taxi Service

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 29th November 2022: After strike by the autorickshaw unions against illegal bike taxi service, Pimpri Chinchwad police has registered an FIR against Roppen Transportation Services Private Limited which operates the Rapido bike taxi service.
Based on a complaint from Motor Vehicle Inspector Tanaji Dhumal, Bhosari MIDC police station registered the case at 11.26 pm yesterday. Police have invoked section 418 (cheating with knowledge that wrongful loss may ensue to person whose interest offender is bound to protect) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and Motor Vehicles Act.
According to the FIR, Rapido has been operating the bike taxi service illegally. They convince the private two-wheeler owners and passengers that their app has license to operate bike taxi service which is not true.
Yesterday, autorickshaw unions went on strike in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, which affected services to passengers. After intervention by the authorities, the unions called off their strike.
Earlier Pune city police has registered a case against the company which has an office on Bhandarkar Road.
Further investigation is going on.
