Pune: As COVID cases rise in Nagar Road-Vadgaonsheri ward area, PMC cancels weekly off for local staff

Pune, 5th August 2020: The Nagar Road-Vadgaonsheri area has reported the fastest spread of COVID-19 virus in the city. Amidst this crisis, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to cancel the weekly off for the local ward offices. The PMC has instructed the ward office staff members to report for work every day.

To tackle the situation, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has set up cells at the ward-office level to contain the spread of the virus.

The Nagar Road-Vadgaonsheri ward office has recorded the highest increase of 104.7 per cent in just last three weeks. It ranks second in terms of highest active cases of COVID-19 amongst the 15 ward offices under the PMC. It has over 1,100 active cases.

In the recent list of containment zones, 11 regions come under the jurisdiction of the Nagar Road-Vadgaonsheri ward office. Aundh-Baner ward office has only one containment zone while the Kondhwa-Yeolewadi and Sinhagad Road ward office has two containment zones each.
