Pune: Bail Rejected for Two Dhol-Tasha Performers Accused of Harassing Intern Reporters During Ganesh Visarjan in Pune
Pune, 13th September 2025: A Pune court has denied bail to two members of a Dhol-Tasha troupe accused of harassing two intern reporters of Punekar News, during the Ganesh Visarjan procession last week.
The accused have been identified as Anoz Baban Navgire (34), a resident of Mangalwar Peth, and Chirag Naresh Kirad (24), a resident of Lal Deul Society. Both are members of the Trital Dhol-Tasha Pathak.
The incident took place on September 6 between 7:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. near Budhwar Chowk, when the reporter was allegedly pushed and subjected to inappropriate behavior by the accused, who also reportedly attacked her friend.
Hearing the bail plea, First Class Judicial Magistrate A.A. Pandey observed that the allegations were serious in nature. The court noted that granting bail could allow the accused to threaten the complainant and witnesses, thereby obstructing justice.
Public Prosecutor Amar Nanavare strongly opposed the bail application, arguing that the victim required protection and the accused’s conduct raised serious doubts about their intentions. Accepting these arguments, the court rejected their bail plea and remanded them to custody.
