Pune: Betting on IPL cricket matches in public; raid at Salisbury Park.
Pune, 19th April 2024: The Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of the police caught the gamblers who were betting on IPL cricket matches. A raid was conducted at Salisbury Park. The names of those arrested are Vasim Babasaheb Bagwan (36 years old, Rainbow Sunrise Apartment, Handewadi Road, Hadapsar) and Tejas Kanhaiyalal Ruparel (42 years old, Pournima Apartment, Salisbury Park). Police constable Surendra Jagdale from the Anti-Corruption Unit has filed a complaint at the Swargate Police Station regarding this. Information was received that Bagwan and Ruparel were betting on IPL cricket matches in an apartment in Pournima Apartment in Salisbury Park. Following this, the police conducted a raid there. Bagwan and Ruparel were caught betting and five mobile phones were seized from them. Senior Police Inspector Pratap Manakar, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zhende and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Tambe, conducted this operation. The Crime Branch also conducted a raid in the Kothrud area and caught those betting on IPL cricket matches.
