Bhigwan Records New Freight Milestone as Solapur Division Begins Steel Bars Unloading

Pune/Solapur, 9th January 2026: The Solapur Division of Central Railway has commenced unloading of a new freight commodity steel bars at Bhigwan Goods Shed, marking the start of operations at the newly developed handling facility under the Business Development Unit (BDU) initiative.

A rake consisting of 46 BOSM wagons loaded with steel bars arrived from Jindal Siding, Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) and was placed for unloading at Bhigvan. The consignment was handled for Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Ltd., Baramati. The development follows completion of circulating area works at the handling line to facilitate smoother operations and better customer handling.

During the unloading, officials and staff from Commercial, Carriage & Wagon (C&W) and Electrical TRD departments were present to supervise operations and ensure safety compliance. Railway personnel also briefed the workforce on safety procedures during handling activities.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Solapur, Yogesh Patil appealed to industries in MIDC regions of Pune, Baramati and Solapur to utilise the upgraded Bhigwan Goods Shed facilities.

The initiative adds a new freight stream to Bhigwan, supporting enhanced rail-based logistics handling in the region.
