Pune: BJP Assures Labour Leader Baba Adhav That SWaCH Will Get Waste Collection Contract

Pune, 9th August 2021: The office bearers of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today assured that only SWaCH cooperative organisation, which is doing door to door garbage collection work in the city for years, will be given work in the future as well.
A meeting was held between senior labour leader Baba Adhav and the office bearers of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) where BJP is the ruling party.
The municipality has no plans to remove the ongoing garbage collection in the city. On the contrary, the municipality is trying to reduce the complaints of the citizens by doing this work in a better way. House leader Ganesh Bidkar said that necessary steps are being taken in this regard.
Standing Committee Chairman Hemant Rasne, Additional Commissioner Kunal Khemnar, SWaCH members were present in the meeting.
“The task of keeping the city clean is very difficult and it will not be possible without SWaCH. We will extend the contract with them and a decision will be taken as soon as possible,” Rasane said.
Mayor Muralidhar Mohol also attended the meeting via telephone and clarified that there would be no injustice to the cleaning workers. An order has been given to the municipal administration to immediately propose an agreement with SWaCH.
