Pune: BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, His 50 Supporters Booked For Violating COVID Rules

Bhosari, 31st May 2021: Around 40 to 50 people, including BJP MLA from Bhosari assembly constituency Mahesh Landge, have been booked by Pimpri Chinchwad police for violating the Corona Prevention Rules during the ‘Mandav Dahale’ function ahead of his daughter’s wedding ceremony.

Meanwhile, MLA Landge’s daughter Sakshi and businessman Nandkumar Bhondwe’s son Ninad Bhondwe’s wedding took place today in front of Santshrestha Dnyaneshwar Mauli Mandir at Alandi. However, the ‘Mandav Dahale’ ceremony, which took place on the eve of the wedding, violated the Corona Rules. MLA Landge alongwith supporters was seen dancing. They were not wearing masks, the social distancing norm was not followed besides there were more guests than allowed during the COVID pandemic.

Based on a complaint from a policeman, an FIR has been registered at Bhosari police station against MLA Landge, his brother Sachin Kisanrao Landge, Ajit Saste, Kundan Landge, Rahul Landge, Datta Gawhane, Gopi Dhavade, Sunil Lande, Nitin Godse, Prajyot Fuge and 40 to 50 others.

The wedding was to take place on June 6. The ceremony was to be held in Rajasthan or Goa. However, the lockdown has been extended. Therefore, ‘Mandav Dalale’ was planned to be held on the 30th and the marriage on the 31st May.

Regarding this, Sachin Landge, brother of MLA Landge, said that he had taken permission from the municipal administration for the ‘Mandav Dahale’ ceremony. “As per the rules, only 25 persons were invited. We celebrated at the family event. However, some activists and well-wishers were present at the venue. This created a crowd. The Corona Rules were violated. We apologize for this. It was not our intention to violate the rules of administration,” he said.

However, the FIR stated that no permission was taken for the program organised between 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm on May 30 opposite the MLA’s house. The accused persons have been booked for offences under relevant sections of the National Disaster Management Act 2005, Maharashtra COVID19 Regulation, Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Maharashtra Police Act.
