Pune BMW Obscenity Case: Accused Gaurav Ahuja Arrested After Surrendering to Karad Police

Yerwada, 9th March 2025: Gaurav Ahuja (25), who was caught on video committing obscene acts on the streets of Pune, has been arrested by Pune police after surrendering to Karad police on Saturday night (March 8).
“We got his custody from Karad police after a medical test. He was brought to Pune and arrested at 7:50 AM today,” said Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke, in-charge of Yerwada police station, while speaking to Punekar News.
Ahuja, a resident of NIBM Road, Kondhwa, was seen in a viral video stopping his BMW in the middle of busy Shastri Nagar Chowk, engaging in lewd acts. The video sparked widespread outrage across the city.
Following the backlash, Ahuja reportedly regretted his actions and voluntarily surrendered to Karad police in Satara district, apologizing to Pune residents, the police, and “Shinde Saheb.”
Ahuja has a history of criminal activity. In 2021, Pune police registered cases against him for gambling. He is also known to be involved in a betting racket on cricket matches.
A case has been registered at Yerwada police station against Ahuja and his friend, Bhagyesh Nibjia, who was with him during the incident. They face charges under sections related to public nuisance, obscene behavior, and obstructing traffic. Bhagyesh was arrested yesterday.
A beer bottle was visible in the viral video, prompting authorities to investigate whether the accused were intoxicated at the time. The video shows the duo stopping their car at the traffic signal, stepping out, urinating on the road, and engaging in further obscene acts. When a bystander confronted them, they responded inappropriately before speeding away.
The incident has led to widespread condemnation, with many calling for strict action against such public misconduct.
