Border Roads Organisation's Executive Engineer Arrested From Delhi For Leaking Recruitment Exam Paper

Sangvi, 21st January 2022: The officials from Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested an executive engineer rank officer of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Ministry of Defence, from Delhi for allegedly leaking recruitment exam paper.

Earlier, three persons including an ex-serviceman were arrested by the police based on a tip-off from the Military Intelligence (MI) unit in Pune.

The arrested officer has been identified as Rajesh Kumar Dinesh Kumar Thakur, currently posted as Joint Director in BRO headquarters in Delhi. He was arrested on January 11 from Delhi. He was in police custody for the last 10 days.

According to the investigation, all his bank accounts have been frozen.

Earlier accused Satish Dhane, Shriram Kadam and Wankhede were caught red-handed while taking Rs 70,000. The accused were remanded in custody for 14 days. Rajesh Kumar had leaked the recruitment exam paper for Driver Engine Static, Storekeeper trades in October last year. He had taken Rs 25 lakh and the leaked paper was provided to 60 candidates.

Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case. The SIT is led by ACP Padmakar Ghanwat and includes PI Tonpe, Jogdand, API Prasanna Jarhad, PSI Nanasaheb Varude.

Police officials said that Thakur was posted at GREF Centre in Dighi in 2005-08 and had come in contact with accused who ran a defence services recruitment training institute. His son is studying abroad. He had got some of the bribe money transferred in his son’s account also.
