Pune: Burglar Falls While Breaking Into Flat in Balewadi, Caught by Residents
Baner, 15th December 2024: In a dramatic turn of events, a burglar attempting to break into a flat in the Balewadi area fell from the first floor and sustained injuries. The residents of Aeon Society promptly apprehended the injured burglar and handed him over to the police.
Authorities confirmed that the burglar, identified as Bappa Sarkar (32), is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Thursday when Sarkar, who is reportedly a resident of Mumbai, entered the premises of Aeon Society. Using a pipe to climb to the first-floor gallery, he attempted to break into a flat. The occupant of the flat was awakened by the noise and went to investigate.
Startled upon realizing that the resident had woken up, Sarkar lost his footing while trying to flee and fell from a height of 15 to 20 feet into the society premises. The resident immediately alerted others, and the society’s caretaker helped detain the burglar until the police arrived.
The injured Sarkar was admitted to a hospital under police supervision.
Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi visited the site following the incident. Police Sub-Inspector Challe has been assigned to investigate the case, with a formal complaint lodged at Baner Police Station by the flat’s resident.
