Pune: Bus Crashes in Kothrud; Driver Severely Injured, Probe Underway

Kothrud, 16th June 2025: A major road accident occurred early Monday morning in Pune’s Kothrud area, leaving a bus driver critically injured. The incident took place around 5:10 a.m. near the Ved Bhavan bridge.
According to Sachin Shinde, a Pune Fire Officer, said that the driver, identified as Uttam Kopre (approx. 50 years old), was trapped in the vehicle with both legs wedged between the dashboard and brake pedals, while his chest was pinned against the steering wheel. Emergency services, including the police and fire brigade, worked together to safely extract him from the wreckage. He was immediately rushed to a city hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
Preliminary reports suggest the bus was travelling from Satara to Mumbai when the accident occurred, likely due to slippery road conditions caused by early morning rain. Fortunately, all passengers onboard escaped unhurt.
In addition to the bus, four to five other vehicles were reportedly damaged in the incident. Police have confirmed that there were no fatalities, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and accountability.
