Pune, 17th October 2022: A 30-year-old businessman was rescued by the police after he was abducted on Tuesday near the Mundhwa area.

All four accused have been arrested, including Dongar Singh (32) of Pashan, Alex Nair (32) of Sangvi, John Anthony (35) of Khadki, and Vilas Chavan (43) of Pimple Gurav. Singh is victim Piraram Desai’s business rival. Following the completion of their police remand, the accused were brought before the court and placed in judicial custody. The entire abduction and subsequent release played out like a scene from a movie. Singh and Desai, the prime accused, are both in the business of supplying stationery to banks.

“Sing’s business was suffering as a result of Desai’s competition, so he decided to get him out of his way by instilling fear in him,” explained assistant police inspector (API) Sadeep Jore.

According to police, Singh plotted with his three bouncer friends to kidnap Desai to threaten him and force him to leave the business. Everything went according to plan, and Sing stormed into Desai’s house with other accomplices at 9.45 p.m. on Tuesday. Desai and his nephew were thrashed by the foursome, who also broke their laptop. Desai was then thrown into a car and driven to Pashan. Meanwhile, Desai’s nephew rushed to the Mundhwa police station. The cops reacted quickly and swung into action.

A police team led by senior police inspector Ajit Lakade and comprised of Jore and API Sameer Karpe began their investigation around 10 pm and reached the accused around 12.10 pm.

The investigation revealed that the accused had no prior criminal history. The kidnapping was carried out solely for business rivalry.

Mundhwa police station has filed a first information report (FIR) for offences under Indian Penal Code sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for harm, assault, or wrongful restraint), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing harm), and 427 (mischief).
