Pune: Campaigning in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Veteran Leader Sharad Pawar Explains Why Companies Are Leaving Hinjawadi

Chinchwad, 14th November 2024: Veteran leader Sharad Pawar visited Pimpri-Chinchwad today to campaign for Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Rahul Kalate of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections from the Chinchwad constituency. During the campaign, Pawar criticised the ruling alliance, Mahayuti, highlighting the deteriorating situation in Pimpri-Chinchwad and attributing the recent departure of 35 companies from Hinjawadi, Pune’s IT hub, to a lack of basic facilities.
Sharad Pawar held a public meeting at Walhekarwadi, with former MP Nana Nawale, former mayor Sanjog Waghere Patil, NCP Pimpri-Chinchwad City president Tushar Kamthe, Kailas Kadam, and Navnath Jagtap in attendance. Notably, former corporator and close aide of the Jagtap family, Ambarnath Kamble, officially joined the NCP.
In his speech, Pawar recounted his efforts to develop industries and the IT sector in Pimpri-Chinchwad and surrounding areas, creating thousands of jobs. However, he criticised the current state of the area, noting that water, electricity, traffic congestion, and infrastructure have not improved as expected in recent years. According to Pawar, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has failed to provide essential services for industries, leading to their departure. “This is the result of the rulers’ inability to provide basic services. Thirty to thirty-five companies have left Hinjawadi,” he said.
Pawar also noted that Maharashtra’s progress has stalled over the past decade. He expressed disappointment that the current situation does not reflect the state’s potential and accused those in power of failing to address the public’s needs. “This is the state we find ourselves in today. To change this situation, it is essential to change the government,” he added.
