Pune: Car Swept Away Due To Waterflow After Heavy Rains In Undri, Driver Survives

Undri, 10th October 2021: A driver had a narrow escape when his car swept away in gushing water heavy rains on Saturday night in Undri.

The incident took place near Hills N Dales society in Undri. The car was swept away in the nullah. The car driver managed to save himself. The car got stuck in the nullah near Sanskriti school in Undri.

The nullah was overflowing around 8.30 pm and the driver tried to cross it when the Honda City car got dragged away due to water pressure. Luckily he saved himself, said Munawar Sharif.

According to local residents, the nullah is without any retaining wall and hence when heavy rain occurs it starts overflowing. The negligence of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) results in dangerous situation for people whenever there is rain. The civic body has failed to clean the nullah ahead of rainy season.

Pune recorded very high rains yesterday in Dhanori, Lohegaon, Sangamwadi, Vishrantwadi, Yerwada and other parts of the city. The intensity was so high that knee deep water was accumulated at many places.

In September 2018 many vehicles were swept away in the water near Ganga Satellite nullah in Wanowrie.
