Pune: Case Registered Against Couple For Trying To Acquire Insurance With Bogus Documents

Pune, 10th October 2022: In an unsuccessful attempt, an insured Rs 50 lakh was tried to be acquired by submitting a bogus death certificate and other documents to the Kotak Life Insurance Company. Dindoshi Police (Mumbai) have registered a case against a couple in Pune in this matter.
According to the police, it was claimed that the husband died in a road accident. While verifying the documents and the police report, the insurance company found the documents to be bogus. Based on the complaint given by Kotak Life Insurance on Friday, the Dindoshi Police have registered a case against the couple.
According to the complaint, the accused Prakash Ramchandra Mane (age 36) had taken an e-term plan worth Rs 25 lakh from the company’s website in January this year, with Rs 25 lakh additional in case of accidental death.

According to the police, the couple had concocted a false story. If Mane died, his wife Mayuri was directed as the sole beneficiary (nominee) of the life insurance policy. Mayuri informed the insurance company on 15th March that her husband had died in a road accident on 6th March, and accordingly claimed the insured Rs 50 lakh. Along with her application, Mayuri submitted relevant documents, including a photocopy of her husband’s death certificate, post-mortem report, inquest panchnama, spot panchnama, and others. It also included the details form, the certificate issued by the village policeman, and the statement given by Mane’s father at the Saswad police station in the Pune district.
“The claim department of the company verified the documents and found all the documents to be bogus. It is clear that the accused couple tried to cheat our company,” the complainant said in a statement to the Dindoshi police.
Based on the complaint, the police arrested Mane, and an FIR was registered against his wife too.
