Pune: Cash, Ornaments Worth Rs 43.5 Lakh Stolen From IAS Officer’s House On Diwali Night

Mundhwa, 5th November 2021: A retired government officer has lodged an FIR with Pune city police stating that thieves broke into his house and decamped with Rs 2.5 lakh cash and 1.5 kg gold ornaments, totally worth Rs 43.5 lakh, on the night of Diwali.

Based on a complaint from 64-year-old Dattatray Sambhaji Doifode, Mundhwa police station has registered the case against unidentified thieves. Doifode’s son is an IAS officer who is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to police, the theft took place between 11.30 pm on Thursday and 4 am on Friday. The ornaments and cash was taken out during worship on Diwali night. The thieves broke into the bungalow and entered the hall after cutting the window grille. The bungalow was locked, police said.

After getting information, officials from the Mundhwa police station and Crime Branch visited the spot. Further investigation is going on.
