Narhe, 14th October 2023: A morning accident on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway near Navale Bridge caused a major traffic jam but miraculously resulted in no loss of life. A cement-laden truck lost control and overturned, crushing a four-wheeler and damaging a two-wheeler. The accident occurred around 10:30 AM during peak commuting hours.

According to witnesses, heavy traffic had caused a signal to start under the Navale Bridge. The cement truck, which was headed from Katraj towards the Navale Bridge, lost its brakes just after crossing the signal near Navale Bridge. Unable to control the vehicle, the truck driver watched as it overturned on the main road.

The overturned truck collided with a four-wheeler from behind, causing severe damage to the car. Both the four-wheeler and the two-wheeler drivers received minor injuries in the incident and were immediately admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

Sinhagad Traffic Police were promptly alerted about the accident. Assistant Police Inspector Pandurang Waghmare of the Sinhagad Traffic Department said that a team from Sinhagad police was dispatched to the scene. With the assistance of a crane, the overturned truck was moved to the side of the road, making way for the traffic to resume.

While traffic has been restored, the incident has raised concerns about vehicle maintenance and road safety, especially during peak hours. An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the exact cause of the brake failure and to take necessary actions to prevent such incidents in the future.
