Pune, 10th November 2022: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inspected the missing link project on Pune-Mumbai Expressway today (November 10). This project is 13.3 km from Lonavala to the Khopoli exit. The work of both the tunnels in this project is in the final stage.

Passengers travelling on the Pune-Mumbai highway will save 20 to 25 minutes. Because, as soon as this project is completed, the distance will be reduced to only six kilometres. It is said to be the longest tunnel in Asia (23.75 m). This project will be important to avoid traffic congestion and accidents.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also made some suggestions. Often, drivers and passengers travelling on the expressway have to suffer due to traffic jams and landslides. But, the Missing Link project will reduce this anguish. This is because a distance of 13 km from Lonavala to Khopoli exit can be travelled through the tunnel.

The tunnel work is in the final stage and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC) intends to complete it in December. Due to this project, passengers will be relieved from the traffic jam in Borghat. The project involves the construction of eight levels of new roads with two tunnels and two viaducts.
