Pune: Citizens Now Need To Register Before Going To Pune University For Walking And Exercise; Last Date Of Registration Is January 28
Pune, 21st January 2023: Citizens of Pune now need to register to visit the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for exercise and morning-evening walking. Through this, the basic information of the citizens coming to the university premises will be collected by the university administration. From the point of view of the safety of the university premises and the citizens coming there, the process of registering the citizens coming to the university for morning and evening exercises and outings has started.
This registration is free of cost and a separate system has been implemented for registration by keeping a desk at two places in the security cabin near the Student Facility Center and the Security Department. The registration form has been placed on this desk, and citizens have to fill the form and submit it at the same place.
The said registration process will be done till January 28. The university administration has informed through a circular that biometric admission will be given to the registration holders in the future. Also, the university has appealed to all concerned to register immediately so that there is no further inconvenience.
In June 2021, the university decided to charge a monthly fee to the citizens who come to visit the university premises. After a lot of criticism, the university finally withdrew the decision to charge visitors for the tour.
There is a significant number of citizens coming to the university premises from various areas like Aundh, Range Hills, Sangvi, Model Colony, and Pashan Road every morning and evening for walking and exercise.
Dr Prafulla Pawar, Registrar, of Savitribai Phule Pune University said, “Free name registration is being done from the point of view of security of the university premises as well as to provide basic facilities to the citizens who visit here. The number of citizens who visit the university before and after office hours is high.”
“The decision to register citizens has been taken from the point of view that the basic information of these citizens should be with the university administration. The process of free registration of citizens who come to walk in the university premises has been started and it is getting a good response,” he added further.
