Pune: Citizens Of Pimpri-Chinchwad Will Get Andhra Water In First Week Of November; Work Of Andhra Bhama Askhed Project In Progress

Pimpri, 17th October 2022: The work of the Andhra and Bhama Askhed project undertaken to enable water supply in Pimpri-Chinchwad is in progress. Citizens of Pimpri-Chinchwad will get 50 MLD of water from Andhra Dam after being processed at Chikhli Water Purification Center in the first week of November.

 

The work of the water purification centre set up by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) at Chikhali was inspected on Monday (October 17). On this occasion, MP of Maval Lok Sabha Constituency Shrirang Barne, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) City President and MLA Mahesh Landage, Chinchwad Assembly Election In-charge Shankar Jagtap, along with Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Additional Commissioner Jitendra Wagh and other officials were present.

 

The work of the water treatment plant set up by the Municipal Corporation in an area of ​​8 hectares has been completed for the treatment of 267 MLD of water lifted from the Andhra and Bhama Askhed projects where two lines remain to be added. It is said that it will be done within 8 days along with a water release test will be done in the next 15 days.

 

Shrikant Sawane, Joint City Engineer, Water Supply Department informed that the work of the impure water abstraction station on the Indrayani river at Nighoje to lift 100 MLD water from Andhra dam has been completed. In the first week of November, 50 MLD of water will be lifted from the river in the first phase.

 

Another 50 MLD of water will be lifted in the next three months. From it, water will be supplied to the citizens of Talwade, Chikhali, Moshi, Nighoje and Indrayani Dudulgaon, Chaholi, and Dighi in Talwade to carry out the smooth water supply in the area.

 

“Getting water to this area will provide additional water to the rest of the city. Hence the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad is moving towards becoming ‘self-sufficient’ in terms of water. It feels satisfying,” said MLA Mahesh Landage.
