Pune City To Get A Film City And An Electronic Park Soon

Pune, 15th February 2022: Pune city will soon have a film city and an industrial area dedicated to electronic firms. This was confirmed by officials during the ‘Invest in Pune’ session of the Pune International Business Summit 2022, organised by the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) on Monday.

Sadashiv Survase, joint director, Industries department confirmed that the state government is developing an industrial area close to Ranjangaon.

Survase said, “It will be on a 600-acre plot. The state government has declared it an electronic park which will support electronic and white goods industries.”

Ranjangaon is chosen as the desired location for the industrial area as it already has an electrical estate with plants from multi-national firms. Additional land is proposed by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in order to attract more industries.

According to the joint director of MIDC, as per the cluster policy of the state government, Pune is contributing to 78 various resource-based MSME (Micro, small and medium enterprises) clusters that focuses on intensifying activities with technology. The data provided by MIDC shows that the region of Pune contributes 40% of Maharashtra’s industry with factors such as infrastructure, connectivity to Mumbai crucial.

Prashant Girbane, director-general of the MCCIA said, “Looks like there is a larger focus on electronic manufacturing. The central government, state government and MCCIA are putting together huge investments to create this cluster. It would be ready to serve and deliver services to the electronic industry by May 1..”

Suhas Diwase, commissioner of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) added, “Mumbai is not affordable. So why not have something just a 45-minute drive from Mumbai. We have already identified these areas of about 150 to 200 acres. We are looking at people from media and entertainment coming and setting up their businesses here. It will create huge employment opportunities.”

PMRDA presented diverse projects aimed to bring change. Some of the proposals include a riverfront pilgrimage hub, a life science and agricultural hub, an automobile hub, an education centre, and an industrial area.
