Chikhali, 18th June 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the Sant Peeth developed by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in Chikhali. His visit to Pune coincides with the departure of Jagatguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s Palkhi from Dehu Gaon to Pandharpur for the Ashadhi Wari.

Fadnavis expressed his joy and congratulated Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge for the initiative. He said, “I’m extremely happy to witness this historic moment. Today, we inaugurated the sculpture depicting the iconic meeting between Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Namdev. I also visited Alandi to see the Sant Peeth developed by PCMC under the leadership of MLA Mahesh Landge.”

He added, “This Sant Peeth is a beautiful initiative. It preserves and promotes our saint tradition, cultural heritage, and philosophical knowledge. It’s important that future generations, as well as the world, understand this rich legacy. Students are being educated here so they can carry it forward globally. Maharashtra has a strong Warkari and Kirtankar tradition, and this center helps preserve and showcase it.”

Fadnavis assured full support from the state government and announced plans to develop similar Sant Peeths in Pandharpur and Alandi.

About Sant Peeth

Santpeeth, located in Chikhali, Pune, is a pioneering cultural and educational center established by PCMC to honor Maharashtra’s saints, especially from the Warkari tradition. Strategically placed between the pilgrimage towns of Dehu and Alandi, it serves as a spiritual and cultural bridge. The center features Maharashtra’s first school integrating Varkari teachings, Sanskrit, and Sant literature, aiming to instill values like devotion, equality, and service.

Santpeeth offers courses, events, and exhibitions focused on saint-poets and their teachings. Officially named “Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Santpeeth,” it complements other regional spiritual sites and stands as a model for blending culture, education, and spirituality, making it a significant contribution to Pune’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
