Pune, January 20, 2021: Republican Party of India (I) national president Satish Gaikwad has filed a criminal complaint against Arnab Goswami at Bundgarden Police Station under section 124-A sedition of Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Official Secrets Act, 1923 and other relevant sections, with reference to facts that Arnab Goswami’s WhatsApp chats was submitted by Mumbai Police in supplementary chargesheet in Television Rating Points (TRP) scam case.
Gaikwad said, “There are very shocking revelations from the WhatsApp chats of Arnab Goswami, as the said chats pose serious questions about national security. Arnab Goswami’s WhatsApp chats with former Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) chief executive Partho Dasgupta reveals many grievous, delicate, grave and serious information of concerning national security among others.”
The chats purportedly show Goswami having prior knowledge of major government decisions such as the with respect to Balakot airstrikes after the Pulwama attack and the scrapping of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
“He is seen to celebrate Pulwama attack in which more than 40 jawans were martyred, which shows his inherent anti-national feeling and hence this satisfies the criminal ingredients of an offence punishable under section 124-A of the Indian Penal Code, among others and also under the Official Secrets Act, 1923. It is a very serious matter concerning of National security it is hereby requested to investigate the said chats and register FIR for treason, sedition under Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the Official Secrets Act, 1923”, said Adv Tosif Shaikh.
Adv Kranti Sahane, Adv Suraj Jadhav, Adv Mohammad Shaikh, Adv Deepak Gaikwad were also present on the occasion.
