Pune: Consultancy Firm MD Among Three Booked For Duping People On Pretext Of Assuring Admission At Medical College
Hinjewadi 2nd Oct 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have booked three people including a higher education consultancy firm’s managing director for allegedly duping 8 people for Rs 2 Crore on pretext of assuring admission at the medical college. The accused had promised admissions to the students in various medical colleges in the state.
The incident came to light after one of the victims who had paid Rs 28 lakh to the consultancy came in search of their office in Hinjewadi and found it locked. The concerned officials who were in touch with him for admission were also not reachable. After he realised that he had been duped, he approached police to lodge a complaint in the matter. It was later revealed that the accused had duped seven more people.
The victim who hails from Baramati had met the managing director and other two officials of the firm at their office and he was assured admission for his nephew through management quota. The accused had demanded Rs 70 lakh from him including fees and donation. The victim came in contact with the accused after he received a message on September 1 from the consultancy firm. A case under relevant sections has been registered at Hinjewadi Police Station and police have launched a search for the accused.
