Pune, July 24, 2020: Four persons have been arrested by Crime Branch Unit 4 of Pune City Police for allegedly duping youths by promising them a job at Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB). The accused took the money and gave them forged appointment letters (joining order).

The forgery came to notice when one of the victims, Tukaram Dhere of Beed, arrived at the KCB office in January with a fake appointment letter signed by the CEO. KCB’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pramod Kumar Singh wrote to Pune police and other agencies about the issue for thorough investigation. Now based on a complaint from Suja James, KCB office superintendent, an FIR has been registered against the accused persons with Khadki police station.

The arrested accused have been identified as Dayanand Damodar Jadhav(33) of Kachrewadi in Mangalwedha taluka of Solapur district, Bharat Krishna Kate (39) of Rajuri and Avdhut Tukaram Kashid of Kadlas, both in Sangola taluka of Solapur district and Pramod Bhagwan Gurav (24) of Und in Karad taluka of Satara district. They had allegedly duped Tukaram Dhere and Ganesh Akhede, both from Beed district, by charging a sum of Rs three lakh each under the pretext of getting them a job at KCB as a helper.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Bachchan Singh said, “The probe revealed that Dayanand Jadhav is the main conspirator in the case. He along with help of Gurav have cheated at least four more people. Further investigation is going on to establish the role of more accused if any. We urge victims to come forward and lodge a complaint against the accused persons.”

According to police, the accused made a fake appointment letter along with fake signatures of the KCB’s CEO. The accused took the logo of the Khadki Cantonment Board from Google images and scanned it through an app scanner, the same image was used as a signature stamp on the appointment letter. “Accused Gurav is labour contractor. Jadhav worked with a private company but has been at home due to lockdown. The other two are their associates.
No one from Cantonment is involved”, said Police Inspector Anjum Bagwan, in-charge of Crime Branch Unit 4.
