Pune Crime: Case Registered Against ‘Kiki’ Pub for Unauthorized Freshers’ Party
Pune, 26th August 2025: Bundgarden Police have registered a case against ‘Kiki’ Pub in the Rajabahadur Mill area for allegedly organizing an unauthorized Freshers’ Party for college students on August 23.
According to the police, the case has been filed against:
Nikhil Prakash Surve (42, resident of Borivali East, Mumbai)
Rohan Ramesh Sawant (39, resident of Kharadi)
Upendra Sanjay Juvekar (26, resident of Somwar Peth)
Sudarshan Phatake (22, resident of Pune)
The complaint was lodged by police official Amit Badhe from Bundgarden Police Station. Authorities said hotel and pub owners had already been instructed to seek prior permission before organizing such events. However, despite the directive, the party was held without notifying the police.
Around 100 to 150 college students were reportedly invited to the event. Once the matter surfaced, Bundgarden Police alerted the State Excise Department, whose officers reached the venue and took necessary action.
Commissioner Issues Warning
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has warned that strict action will be taken against establishments organizing unauthorized Freshers’ Parties where alcohol is served to students. He added that the licenses of such pubs, hotels, or event companies will be canceled if violations are found.
Just days earlier, an illegal Freshers’ Party was busted at Pivo Garten Pub in Mundhwa. During that incident, several college students allegedly consumed liquor and created chaos in the area, prompting swift action by the Excise Department.
