Pune Crime: Woman Alleges Repeated Sexual Assault by Friend and His Associates

Wagholi, 21st July 2026: Three men have been arrested and a juvenile has been detained for allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulting a young woman after befriending her through social media. The alleged offences took place at multiple locations in Pune, including Wagholi, Kharadi and Viman Nagar, police said.

The accused have been identified as Farhan Rizwan Shaikh (20), a resident of Mundhwa; Fazal Shaikh (20), a resident of Mundhwa; and Sahil Dindore (20), a resident of Viman Nagar. A juvenile has also been taken into custody in connection with the case.

According to the police, the survivor (21-year-old woman from Vishrantwadi) became acquainted with Farhan while they were studying at college in 2024. The two later remained in contact through social media.

Police said that in November 2025, Farhan allegedly called the woman to a private hostel in Wagholi, where he repeatedly sexually assaulted her. He subsequently took her to different locations in Wagholi, Kharadi and Viman Nagar, where his three associates allegedly also sexually assaulted her.

Following the incidents, the woman reportedly stopped communicating with Farhan. However, police said he allegedly threatened to circulate her objectionable photographs on social media and again sexually assaulted her.

After enduring prolonged mental trauma, the woman approached the Airport Police Station and lodged a complaint. The case was later transferred to the Wagholi Police Station, as the alleged offences fell under its jurisdiction.

Based on the complaint, Wagholi police registered a case against the four accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable laws.
