Pune, 22nd March 2026: Cyber fraudsters cheated two individuals of a total ₹65 lakh in separate share market investment scams, police officials said.

In the first case, a senior citizen lodged a complaint at Parvati Police Station after being duped of ₹20.60 lakh. According to police, the fraudsters contacted him in January through a message on his mobile phone, promising high returns on stock market investments.

Believing the claims, the victim transferred ₹20.60 lakh to bank accounts provided by the accused. However, he neither received any returns nor got his invested amount back. After realising he had been cheated, he approached the police. Police Inspector Anita Hiwarkar from the Crime Branch is investigating the case.

In another similar incident, a Dhayari resident filed a complaint at Nanded City Police Station after being defrauded of ₹45.25 lakh. The complainant was also lured with promises of high returns through stock market investments and transferred the amount to bank accounts
provided by the fraudsters.

Police Sub-Inspector Prasad Raut is investigating the second case.

Police have urged citizens to remain cautious and avoid investing money based on unsolicited calls, messages, or online offers promising unusually high returns.
