Pune-Danapur Express Extended to Supaul, Loses Superfast Status
Pune, 25th September 2025: The Pune-Danapur Superfast Express has been extended up to Supaul station in Bihar and will lose its superfast classification, according to a Central Railway notification issued on September 18, 2025.
The extended service commenced operations from September 12, 2025, with train number 12149 departing from Pune and train number 12150 returning from Supaul on the same date.
Service Changes
The train will now cover additional stations beyond Danapur including Patliputra, Barauni Junction, Saharsa, and terminate at Supaul. The extended journey adds approximately 5 hours and 10 minutes to the total travel time.
Key stations on the extended route include Begusarai, Khagaria, Mansi Junction, and Saharsa before reaching the final destination at Supaul.
Status Downgrade
Following the extension, the train will be reclassified from “Superfast” to “Express” category. This change reflects the modified operational parameters of the extended service.
Renumbering Schedule
The train will undergo renumbering effective December 4, 2025. The current train numbers 12149/12150 will be changed to 11401/11402 respectively. This renumbering was originally scheduled for November 25, 2025, but has been preponed.
Maintenance Arrangements
Primary maintenance of the train will continue to be handled by Pune division, with Rake Based Pit Cleaning to be arranged accordingly. The Pune division has been directed to issue appropriate maintenance protocols for the extended service.
Operational Details
Train 12149 departs Pune at 21:05 hours daily and reaches Supaul at 13:15 hours the following day. The return journey, train 12150, departs Supaul at 14:30 hours and arrives in Pune at 04:00 hours.
The timings between Pune and Danapur remain unchanged from the original schedule.
