Pune: Demand to File Sedition Case Against Rakhi Sawant for Alleged Pro-Pakistan Remarks

Wagholi, 9th May 2025: A fresh controversy has erupted after a demand was made to register a sedition case against actress and media personality Rakhi Sawant over her alleged pro-Pakistan and anti-India statements. The demand was formally raised by Omkar Tupe, Deputy District Chief of the Yuva Sena (Shiv Sena – Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction), who submitted a written complaint to the Wagholi Police.
In his memorandum, Tupe objected to Sawant’s alleged remarks, including “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Pakistan, I am with you,” reportedly made while she was in Maharashtra. He claimed that such statements insult India’s sovereignty and unity and urged authorities to take stringent legal action under sedition laws for inciting enmity against the nation.
Tupe also met Assistant Police Commissioner Pranjali Sonawane and Senior Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande to press for immediate action. He stated that such comments should not be tolerated in a democratic nation and set a dangerous precedent if left unchallenged.
Escalating the issue further, Tupe announced a ₹1 lakh reward for any “patriotic Indian woman” who slaps Rakhi Sawant as a symbolic act of protest. A video of this announcement has gone viral on social media, intensifying the debate.
Police have yet to comment on whether an FIR will be filed or if an investigation is underway.
