Pimpri-Chinchwad, 9th May 2025: An old bomb shell was discovered near Pimpri Railway Station.

According to Senior Police Inspector Ashok Kadlag, in charge of Pimpri Police Station, the shell was found near a scrap shop close to the railway station and was reported around 12 PM.

Officials from the Pimpri Police Station, Crime Branch, and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) immediately rushed to the scene. The BDDS team inspected the shell and took it into custody.

Given the nationwide alert and rising tensions with Pakistan, police treated the incident with utmost seriousness, thoroughly scanning the area for other explosive materials or suspicious objects—none were found.

Preliminary information suggests that the shell may have been stolen and kept in the scrap shop. For further analysis, it will be sent to the Army. Such recoveries of old bomb shells are not uncommon in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region.

Just two days ago, a mock drill was conducted in Pimpri to prepare for potential war-like scenarios. Authorities confirmed that all emergency systems functioned efficiently during the drill, demonstrating the city’s readiness.
