Pune: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Orders To Remove Water Hyacinth From Mula, Mutha And Bhima rivers

Pune, 2 April 2021: Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar today instructed officials to immediately remove water hyacinth from Mula, Mutha and Bhima rivers in the district.

A meeting was held at VVIP Circuit House today under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar regarding water hyacinth in Mula-Mutha, Bhima river basin.

MLA Rahul Kul, MLA Anna Bansode, MLA Sunil Tingre, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil, Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Superintendent Engineer of Irrigation Department Sanjeev Chopde, Executive Engineer Rajendra Dhodpakar etc. were present during the meeting.

Pawar said that it is necessary to remove water hyacinth from the rivers in the district. For this, the officials of the Irrigation Department should inspect and submit a report. The Pune Municipal Corporation should clean the lake by removing water hyacinth and silt from Pashan lake, Katraj lake and Jambhulwadi lake. Also, PMC, PCMC and Cantonment Board should plan to remove water hyacinth from rivers, said Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
