Pune: Despite BJP’s Power, There Is Need For Taking Out ‘Handa March’ For Water Supply
Pune, 7th January 2023: Even though there are ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs in Kothrud and Shivajinagar constituencies, they are now embarrassed to take out a handa march as there is no proper water supply in their areas.
BJP spokesperson Sandeep Khardekar, who is close to Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil, has been trying for more than 15 days to ensure a smooth water supply in his Erandwane, Nal Stop Chowk area. But the administration has not appreciated him.
Due to insufficient and low-pressure water supply in the areas, water scarcity has arisen. Therefore, Khardekar has warned that if the supply of water not started smoothly in the next 72 hours, he will take out a handa march and protest against it.
In this regard, spokesperson Sandeep Khardekar has given a letter to Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Vikram Kumar.
Residents of Nalstop, Sahakar Vasahat, Pandit Nehru Vasahat, Daha Chal, Ganeshnagar, and Erandwane areas are suffering due to the low pressure of the water supply. When the local officials and employees were inquired about this, they said that as the level of the SNDT tank was not maintained low and the L&T company did not complete the work of connecting the six-inch water line, hence, the water was coming at low pressure and for a short time.
“In this regard, 15 days ago, after a detailed discussion with the head of the Water Supply Department, Anirudh Pavaskar, he had agreed to resolve this issue immediately. But the water supply has not been smoothed yet. Therefore, if the supply is not smoothed in the next 72 hours,” Khardekar has warned to hold a handa march.
Also, after the installation of meters under the Equal Water Supply Scheme, notices are being sent that “you are consuming excess water and action will be taken against you.”
According to the discussion with Pavaskar, citizens have also been appealed to cooperate. However, instead of scaring the citizens, Khardekar also demanded that the administration should try to educate them.
