Pune: Develop Khadki Station As Alternative Terminal To Pune station – MP Girish Bapat

Pune, 21st September 2022: As an alternative arrangement to the Pune railway station, MP Girish Bapat gave suggestions to Railway officials in the meeting of the Pune railway division on Tuesday (September 21) that Khadki railway station should be developed as a terminal.

Pune railway station is the only station located in the central part of the city to travel by train. Therefore, there is huge pressure on this station, traffic congestion, stress on the railway and police administration, as well as delay in reaching the desired destination on time and financial and mental hardships are faced by the citizens at this place.

Also, since this stress on Pune station will continue to increase in the future, Bapat has said that if Khadki railway station is developed as an alternative system to Pune railway station in the city, the stress on Pune station will be reduced.

Bapat said, “In addition, if we consider the public transport system in the city, since the number of passengers going to the railway station by private vehicles is high, there is not enough parking space at Pune and other railway stations in the city, so the railways should take immediate measures in this regard.

He added, “At Hadapsar railway station facilities should be provided to passengers, roads should be developed, to start Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus system for railway and other passengers, Railways should permit the development of stormwater line from railway station parking (Mahatma Gandhi statue) to Tadiwala road, Railway FOB should be extended for municipal multi-storied parking, ROB should be constructed in Ghorpadi area on Miraj railway line in Pune Cantonment area.”

MP Supriya Sule, Pune Railway Divisional Manager Renu Sharma and other railway officials were present on the occasion.
