Pune: DIAT Gets Royalty Amount For Development Of Nanofibres Of Ayurvedic Based Biodegradable Face Mask

Khadakwasla, 10th July 2021: A Transfer of Technology (ToT) between Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) and M/s SiddheshwarTechtessilePvt. Ltd., Maharashtra was signed in the last year [June 2020] for the development of nanofibres of ayurvedic based Biodegradable Face Mask named “Pavitrapati” which acts a virus neutraliser to resist against the COVID-19 virus.

The Pavitrapati face mask was made by incorporating herbal extracts like Neem oil, Turmeric, Krishna Tulsi, Ajwain, Black Pepper, Gum Arabic, Clove, Sandalwood, Saffron in the fibre that provides antibacterial and antiviral properties. This technology has proved that a non-woven membrane between the woven fabrics supports to block droplets, splashes, sprays, bacteria, and viruses. The 3-layered mask provides antiviral potential because of the interaction of extract to inhibit viral neutralisation.

M/s SiddheshwarTechtessile Pvt Ltd manufactured this product at a large scale, in view of the consistent demands and positive feedback received from the retailers and lakh of customers. They said that they are indeed happy in contributing to contain the spread of COVID-19 with the launch of this product.

As a token of gesture, the company extended a royalty amount of approximately Rs two lakhs to DIAT against the profit made by the product.

On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor appreciated the gesture and congratulated the company for its efforts. He said the ToT, had helped in saving lives and created job opportunities leading to “Atmanirbhar Bharat” is a commendable effort by the industry. He extended his warm wishes and retain the future collaboration.
