Pune District Civil Surgeon Among 3 Arrested In Bribery Case

Pune, 7th July 2022: Three officers including a civil surgeon of Aundh District Hospital have been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a bribery case.
The arrested have been identified as Civil Surgeon Dr Madhav Bapurao Kanakavale (50), administrative officer Mahadev Bajirao Giri (52) and clerk Sanjay Sitaram Kadale (45). A case is being registered at the Chaturshringi police station against them for offences under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to ACB, the complainant runs a sonography centre in Shikrapur. He had applied for renewal of license. However, Kadale allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 on behalf of the civil surgeon and administrative officer.
The complainant approached the ACB which verified the complaint. Accordingly, a trap was laid on the premises of the hospital today afternoon. Kadale was caught red-handed by the ACB while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000.
The ACB is also conducting searches at the residences of the accused persons.
