Pune: District Collector Bans Celebration Of Holi, Dhulivandan Festival In Open Spaces In Housing Societies, Resorts, Hotels, Public Places

Pune, 24 March 2021: The number of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) patients are increasing again in Maharashtra as well as in the Pune district. Considering the possibility of the rapid spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19), it is necessary to control it immediately and take preventive measures.

District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, who is the Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority, has issued an order forbidding the celebration of Holi (on March 28), Dhulivandan (March 29) and Rangpanchami in public places.

“There is a prohibition on the celebration of these festivals in public places, hotels, resorts, public halls, public and private spaces, open spaces in all housing societies in rural areas of Pune district”, the order states.

The Collector has been authorized to take a decision regarding the permission to organize yatras and festivals in the district by the state government.

The order also said that the citizens should co-operate with the district administration in complying with the prohibition order and if any provision in the order is violated, action will be taken against the concerned in accordance with the Disaster Management Act 2005.
