Pune: District Information Officer Rajendra Sarag Passes Away
Pune, 3 April 2021: District Information Officer Rajendra Sarag passed away today morning. He was undergoing treatment for Coronavirus disease (COVID19). He was known as a government official with good relations with all journalists.
Sarag had tested positive for COVID19 last Sunday. He was admitted to a private hospital. He had high sugar levels. His health deteriorated within two days after he was hospitalised. Soon he was shifted to Sassoon hospital. The sugar level did not come down till the end.
As soon as it was learned that Sarag was infected with corona, Pune District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh contacted the doctors several times and sought help. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also tried to save Sarag by contacting hospital authorities.
Sarag’s wife and son have also tested COVID positive. Also, seven officials from the District Information Office are infected with Coronavirus.
Sarag had good contact with the media sector. He was honoured with several awards for his work in the social field. He was to be promoted in fifteen days, district collectorate officials said.
