Pune University Seeks Data On Vacant Seats For PhD Programme

Pune, April 3, 2021: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has ordered a release of information regarding vacant seats for PhD programmes from recognised guides. The university was unable to conduct the admission process for PhD last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic and lockdown. The PET exam for PhD admissions will be conducted this year.
The university had conducted its last PET in 2019, through which around 1,800 candidates were selected in the first round of admissions. There are around 3,300 seats available for SPPU’s PhD programme. The admission procedure for the second round has been pending to COVID-19 lockdown last year. Around 1,500 seats are yet to be filled.
SPPU has asked the recognised guides at the university to provide the details of the students conducting research at their respective recognised research centres at the university by April 15th. The information must be uploaded online by the guides, through their own login IDs. Updating this information is mandatory for all.
SPPU’s PhD programme is one of the most renowned and most sought programmes in the country, which offers research opportunities in around 100 subjects.
