Pune: Doctor Booked For Negligence 3 Years After Death of Patient
Wakad, 11th April 2022: Pimpri Chinchwad police have registered a negligence case against a doctor three years after the death of a woman patient.
The deceased has been identified as Manjusha Santosh Bhagwat (43). The incident took place at the Life Line Clinic near Jagtap Dairy between September 1 and 3, 2018.

Based on a complaint from Santosh Tukaram Bhagwat (48), Wakad police station has registered an FIR against Dr Pradeep H. Patil.
According to the police, the complainant Bhagwat works as a police constable in the special branch of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. His wife Manjusha fell ill and was admitted to Dr Patil’s hospital on September 1, 2018, for treatment. Manjusha was suffering from pneumonia, and Dr Pradip Patil did not diagnose the illness properly. Based on her blood tests, he had concluded that just her platelet count had dropped sharply and treated her carelessly based on his impulses.
After that, on September 4, 2018, Manjusha’s condition worsened. So Santosh Bhagwat took her to Thergaon hospital for further treatment. However, Manjusha died on September 5, 2018, while undergoing treatment. The doctors announced that Manjusha had died of pneumonia.
Bhagwat had lodged a complaint with the police. After investigating his application, an FIR has been registered against Dr Patil for an offence under section 304a (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police Sub-Inspector Sangeeta Gode is further investigating the case.
