Pune: Dog Brutally Beaten to Death in Pimpri-Chinchwad; Case Registered at Nigdi Police Station

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 14th September 2025: In a shocking incident, a dog was brutally beaten to death with a wooden stick near a petrol pump in Akurdi on Saturday. CCTV footage of the attack has surfaced, sparking outrage among animal lovers across Pimpri-Chinchwad.

According to police, the dog, a Siberian Husky named Husky, was in the care of Rahul Sadashiv Markar after being entrusted to him by its owner, Rukmini Galande, for a few days. An unidentified person allegedly attacked the dog with a stick, causing severe bleeding injuries. The animal succumbed to the assault shortly after.

Following the incident, the body of the dog was found lying on the roadside. Local animal welfare groups and residents have condemned the brutal killing, demanding strict action against the perpetrator.

The Nigdi Police have registered a case under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. “We have taken the matter seriously and investigations are underway to identify and arrest the accused,” said Crime Police Inspector Bhojraj Misal of Nigdi Police Station.
