Pune: Drowning Mishap Claims Life of 17-Year-Old at Kasarsai Dam near Hinjawadi
Hinjawadi, 23rd April 2024: An incident occurred on Monday (22nd April) afternoon at the Kasarsai Dam near Hinjawadi, where a minor drowned while swimming.
The victim, identified as Madhav Hargauri Singh (17 years old, residing in Nashik MIDC), had ventured into the waters for a swim. However, he misjudged the conditions and found himself unable to swim.
Efforts to locate Madhav began on Monday evening, initiated by members of Wildlife Protector Maval, Shivdurg Mitra Lonavala, and Aapda Mitra Maval. However, due to darkness, the search operation had to be suspended temporarily. It resumed today morning, with the combined efforts of Nilesh Garade, Anil Andre, Vinay Sawant, Shubham Kakade, Avi Karle, Prathamesh Supekar, Ramesh Kumbhar, Kunal Dabhade, and Vaibhav Wagh.
Madhav’s body was recovered around 9:30 a.m. this morning. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety awareness, especially in natural bodies of water like dams.
